Anxiety
What is anxiety? We have all had moments of experiencing it. But really, what is happening with us when we have anxiety?
Anxiety is a defense system of the body. It is a signal that takes over letting us know that there is something important we need to pay attention to. I guess you could say it is like an alarm system or warning system. And when we don’t address whatever it is that is causing the anxiety, then it builds and we begin to do things like jump when the phone rings or panic when we hear different sounds or drive by certain places. This is because the signal has gotten out of hand and is now taking over our whole nervous system since we don’t “feel safe”. I have talked with many different people who have experienced all sorts of anxiety, and most can pinpoint exactly where it is coming from.
One person who was normally a very happy person, got so overwhelmed with their work that they started taking medication just to make it through a day at work. Another person became so afraid of getting in trouble or that they had done something wrong at work that they became anxious with knots in their stomach every time the phone would ring regardless of who was calling. Yet another had such a horrible and dangerous experience with teenagers that every time they were near any kids around that same age, they would have an anxiety attack. Even if we know where our anxiety is coming from, it doesn't make it just go away. This is because it is locked into the programming of our subconscious mind. Also many times there is something that we need to change in order to ease the anxiety but fear may be getting in the way. Fear of loss of security, fear of pain, fear of not being loved.

Our Brain is Brilliant!Anxiety is a defense system for us. This comes from usually just one experience where we felt danger! All the following experiences just reinforce what our brain already learned.
If our brain can learn something this quickly - It can learn a new way just as fast! |
Imagined fear is far worse in most all cases
than the actual action that is feared.
than the actual action that is feared.
Knowing this can sometimes make us feel worse when we are trapped in our anxiety. But there is hope, there is a way to ease the discomfort and be happy again doing the things we want to do.
How to get rid of anxiety
There are many different ways that we can remove anxiety from our life. From martial arts to therapies to creative expressions....all are great and we can go towards what we are interested in. What they all have in common and what they are doing is creating the change and the shift in our subconscious beliefs.
Hypnosis allows us to access our subconscious mind quickly to understand what we need to know in order to shift our minds experience of the event. This may include regression therapy by going back to the initial event to create the change from there, or possibly it will be a more direct focus around reprogramming the way our mind process memories and past events. Each session is really about what works well for you in order for you to free yourself as quickly as possible and get you to your end goal ofbeing free from stress and worry.

How many sessions will it take?
Generally for any one thing that we are focused on it can take from one to six sessions. But again this is in general. There are factors that determine how many sessions it may take such as how serious we are about wanting the change. As a client it is important to remember we are all responsible for our own experience and ultimately our own change. This is a wonderful thing! Because it means we are in control of our own experience of life. As a hypnotherapist it is our goal to help you reach your goal as quickly as possible while sharing techniques with you that you can take and use anytime you need.
